The Masterclass Agile Architecting is a unique, powerful combination of a training in system and software architecture, transfer of the lean & agile mindset, official Agile Scrum Master certification, roll-out of the agile development process in the participant’s organization, and on-site coaching sessions to improve on relevant professional skills.
Goal
The goal of the Masterclass Agile Architecting© is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to establish a lean and agile product realization process, based on an agile architecture. Effective management of change and complexity is the guiding principle for the masterclass. Taking part in an intensive program of 8-10 months, participants will learn how to excel in delivery of customer value today and the realization adaptable and profitable products tomorrow.
Agile architecting breaks with the tradition of a large, predetermined design and a long, unsteady development time before delivery of customer value. The agile architect will expect change as a fact of life, while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders. The masterclass stimulates participants to make his or her working practices and delivery process more efficient by using lean and agile techniques, including best practices to ensure that the architectural foundation of the system will not be compromised further downstream.

The Masterclass facilitates the migration to an agile way of working using a multifaced, yet coherent and pragmatic approach:
- follow-up courses in present-day software and system architecture issues and practices;
- a variety of workshops addressing the Lean & Agile approach for innovation of both process and products;
- official Certified Scrum Master course delivered by a Scrum Trainer endorsed by the Scrum Alliance;
- professional support for the roll-out of the agile way of working within the participant’s current project or organization;
- training of relevant hard & soft skills in the context of the agile mindset;
- fruitful exchange of experiences and ‘lessons learned’ with colleagues;
- on-site, personal coaching of participants to integrate the supplied material into the daily practice.
Outline
The target audience of the Masterclass Agile Architecting consist of inquisitive professionals facing challenges in the development of complex, software-intensive systems. The participants put their own practical experience and their current project into the program as working capital.
The Masterclass will focus on both technical and non-technical competences. A variety of applicable soft skills is elaborated and trained in the relevant context, directly derived from the daily practice of the participants.
A unique asset of the Masterclass is the involvement of the working environment of the participants. For instance, while agile principles are being dealt with exhaustively during masterclass meetings, participants will also be given practical support and coaching to introduce and roll-out the agile way of working in their own project or department.
Sharing experiences and best-practices is the best way to adopt a new paradigm, and will make ‘learning from your peers’ a leading educational principle. The Masterclass addresses a variety of actual themes in architecture and agile system development. Selected issues are dealt with from technological, organisational, and process-related viewpoints, emphasizing the business value of agile architecting.

Rikkert Stuwe is an oral presentation coach, with over 20 years’ experience teaching presentation courses, conducting presentation workshops, and coaching individual clients. He runs his own business: The Text Consultant, specializing in professional storytelling for goal-getting purposes. What he likes about presentations is that they are performances. Performances involve persuasive story-telling, visualization, and audience-involvement skills in order to get a message across or achieve a goal. In doing so, many presenters forget what all communication experts say is true: 80% of the message is non-verbal and 20% of the message is verbal.
In the Masterclass, Rikkert will deliver a presentation workshop in which participants learn how to drive their message home without wasting too many words or indulging in Too Much Information. And how to do so convincingly for a variety of stakeholders.
Recommendation
"I found the MasterClass a unique training and the right approach for someone like me who has an accumulated experience but wants to take it to the next level in an effective way. There was a balanced technical and non-technical training and the input came in both cases from peers as well as coaches leading to rich, invigorating and useful learning experience. Basically, by networking with experienced peers many technical and non-technical issues became less scary than they were because you learn they are common and you see that we all are trying to address them in various ways. I can also honestly say that the level and trustworthiness of the personal coaching has helped to pin-down subtle behaviour patterns that had been with me for years and get in the way of what you are trying to achieve with stakeholders. With the tools and coaching I have been given, I am able to work on improving these things."
